Thomas, the town that I get to call home for the next year. I don’t know why it is daunting to think about being in the same place for a “long” time, but I am excited for the opportunity. After accepting a position with AmeriCorps I immediately did all the research I could on this small town and realized how up my alley it truly is. Thomas is a tiny town where Appalachian culture and modern art collide. After exploring the region my first weekend here I have discovered the magic that is Tucker County.
This is truly an area that has something for everyone. Whether you want to take a relaxing stroll around the riverfront or want to go on a wild mountain bike trail, it is there for you. I must admit my first weekend I might’ve gone too hard adventuring: bouldering, hiking, and mountain biking, but I feel so blessed to be able to consider this magical town home for the time being.
